The Surprising Benefits of Mouth-Taping for Mild Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder characterized by repeated interruptions in breathing during sleep. - The median Snoring Index (SI) also improved significantly, with a 47% reduction from 303.8 to 121.1 events per hour.
- Improvements were particularly notable in the supine AHI, which measures sleep apnea severity when lying on the back.

Factors Influencing Effectiveness

The study also explored factors that might influence the effectiveness of mouth-taping. It was found that the higher the baseline AHI and SI, the greater the improvement after mouth-taping. This suggests that patients with more severe symptoms of mild OSA may benefit more from this treatment.
